Monday night in the metropolis brings us a mouth-watering Premier League matchup, with West Ham United set to take on Brentford in a capital clash at the London Stadium. The Hammers are in 19th place in the league standings, while the Bees are three spots above them in 16th after seven games. Check out our match prediction below!
Nuno Espirito Santo’s first month in the nation’s capital has been a baptism of fire, having had less than 48 hours to prepare for his first match in charge against Everton, followed by a challenging trip north to the Emirates. The international break, then, may have come at just the right time for the Portuguese tactician, and this perhaps represents his first true test with his new club.
In the opposite dugout, it’s difficult to define Keith Andrews’ start to life at the Gtech just yet, as his side has delivered flashes of brilliance one week, only to produce underwhelming displays the next. With both these sides searching for stability under new leadership, a victory here could prove to be the turning point of their season. Let’s get into the key stats!

After a much-improved defensive display against Everton in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first match in charge, West Ham suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Arsenal heading into the October international break.
While the trip to the Emirates was always likely to be a tough assignment, the result still extended the Irons’ winless run to four games (D1 L3) and took their goals conceded tally to 16 - the most in the division.
The hosts have lost all three home games this season and have not tasted a league victory at the London Stadium in eight, dating back to a 2-0 win over Leicester City back in February last season.
West Ham have conceded two or more goals in each of their last four home league games!
Meanwhile, Brentford have earned seven points in as many games so far this season, and have yet to pick up points in consecutive matches, despite producing a handful of impressive performances.
The Bees followed up a 3-1 victory over Manchester United with a 1-0 defeat to Man City ahead of the international break, which was the first time they failed to score in a league match this term.
The visitors have lost all three of their top-flight away games so far this season and conceded two or more goals in each of those matches. Notably, though, they did score a goal in each of those games as well.

West Ham were dealt a significant blow during the international break, with Niclas Fullkrug sustaining a muscle tear with Germany, which is expected to keep him sidelined for several weeks.
Callum Marshall and Callum Wilson are now expected to compete for the number nine role in Fullkrug’s absence, but the Hammers' biggest attacking threat still lies in their skipper, Jarrod Bowen.
Bowen also has an excellent record against this opponent, netting seven goals in 13 appearances against them, which is more than he has scored against any other team in the top-flight.
Tomas Soucek could return to the starting lineup, having served his three-match suspension!
The international break also came at a cost for Brentford, with Antoni Milambo set to undergo surgery after suffering a cruciate ligament injury while featuring for the Netherlands U-21s.
The 20-year-old will now join fellow injury absentees Aaron Hickey (knee), Paris Maghoma (hamstring) and Gustavo Nunes (hamstring) on the sidelines. Dango Ouattara is expected to return to the starting 11.
Kevin Schade scored the winner against this opponent at this venue last season and will likely partner the Bees’ top scorer this term, Igor Thiago (4 goals), in attack this weekend.

While the initial signs under Nuno Espirito Santo are promising for West Ham, they are yet to taste victory at home this season, and it is going to take a few more games for us to start backing them to win games with any confidence.
Brentford have shown that they are well capable of going toe-to-toe with the best teams in the division, but they’ve mainly done so on their home patch. The visitors have conceded eight goals in three away games this term, and we feel they will struggle to keep out the hosts in this one. Our West Ham vs Brentford prediction is both teams to score.
Jarrod Bowen to score or assist
Jarrod Bowen has scored three of West Ham’s six goals this season and has netted seven times in 13 matches against this opponent. Additionally, Brentford have conceded two or more goals in each of their three away league games this season.
