Pool 1 of the 2025-26 European Rugby Champions Cup begins with Saracens hosting Clermont. Also in this pool are Glasgow Warriors, Sale Sharks, Stade Toulousain and Sharks. Read our match prediction below.
The top four in the pool will make their way into the last 16. Coming fifth means a transfer to the European Challenge Cup. Last season saw both of these clubs reach the knockout stages but then be beaten in the last 16.
Saracens are sixth in PREM Rugby, two points behind the final play-off position. They have won three of their six league games but lost the others. Home form has produced a couple of wins over Bristol and Sale (with 117 points scored) but a loss to Bath.
Clermont are ninth in France's Top 14 and that's mainly because of their away form. Of their five league games played on the road this season, only one has been won with the other four all ending in defeat.
Their only away league win was in a low-scoring affair at Montpellier, winning the game 9-7. We expect to see a lot more points scored in this match. With home advantage, we tip Saracens to win on a -15.5 points handicap.

Saracens have won two of their three home league games this season. It should have been a clean sweep but they lost a half-time lead against Bath last weekend. 144 points have been scored in their three home league fixtures, including 65 against Sale Sharks.
Clermont are also strong at home but no so great on the road. They have only won one away league game this season, losing the other four. This is going to be a difficult game for them and our Saracens v Clermont prediction is Saracens wins on a -15.5 handicap.
