Novak Djokovic defeated last year’s finalist in New York, Taylor Fritz, in four sets in the last round. The Serb, who is seeking his first Grand Slam final of the year, has struggled with injuries throughout the tournament. As a result, isn’t favoured to make the final.

Djokovic has lost in the semi-finals in all three majors so far this year. The former world number one has defeated Alcaraz five times previously, most recently in Melbourne at the start of the year. Making it to the last four has seen the 38-year-old move up to fourth in the live ranking.

Though he has been on the losing end most of the time against Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz arrives for this tie as the heavy favourite. He has been in incredible form in New York and throughout the campaign.

The Spaniard, who is yet to lose a set at Flushing Meadows, defeated Jiri Lehecka to stretch his current winning streak to 11 matches. Alcaraz, who had gone on a 24-match winning run before his current stretch, has compiled an incredible 59-6 record.

The one-time US Open champion won the French Open and then finished as runner-up at Wimbledon. Alcaraz’s current streak has seen him return to number one in the live ranking.
