Champions League football returns this week, and Matchday 7 kicks off at the Astana Arena with Kairat Almaty taking on Club Brugge on Tuesday afternoon. The Nation’s team are bottom of the League Phase standings, while the Blue and Blacks are 31st after six games. Check out our match prediction below!
With one point to their name, two games left to play, and six points separating them from the Knockout Phase playoff cutoff, Kairat’s hopes of progressing to the next stage of the UCL are all but over. Still, they will want to salvage pride before bowing out, and this is probably their best chance to do so with a trip to the Emirates Stadium to come on MD8.
Club Brugge aren’t much better off, currently on four points after six games. It has been a massively disappointing campaign for the Belgian outfit, given they reached the Round of 16 in this competition last term, but three points here should keep them in the running heading into the final matchday when they host Marseille. Let’s get into the key stats!

With the Kazakhstan Premier League having ended back in October, this will be the first competitive match that Kairat Almaty will play since their UCL MD6 loss to Olympiacos on December 9.
The Nation’s team have struggled to make an impact among Europe’s elite in their debut season in this competition. Their only point came in a goalless draw against Pafos, and they’ve only scored four goals in six games.
Barring their 5-0 defeat to Real Madrid, Kairat were competitive in their other two home games and only conceded one goal in those matches. However, they have not scored at home in this competition to date.
Kairat have scored the second-fewest goals in the UCL this season (4)!
Meanwhile, after kicking off their UCL campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory over Monaco, Club Brugge’s only point in the competition since then was a 3-3 draw at home to Barcelona on MD4.
FCB have not been in the best form domestically since returning to action in the New Year, having lost both their games in 2026, with the most recent coming against La Louviere 3-2 over the weekend.
The visitors have lost all three away games in this competition and conceded a combined tally of nine goals while only scoring once. They have also conceded two or more goals in three of their last four matches on the road across all competitions.

After missing the match against Olympiacos due to suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards, Chelsea-bound Dastan Satpayev will be able to return to the Kairat squad for this match.
The Almaty-based side have made one key signing this month in the form of Brazilian centre-back Lucas Africa, who could be handed his debut for the club in this one.
Ofri Arad is the only confirmed absentee for the hosts this week due to injury, but he is likely to return before their final fixture in the League Phase against Arsenal at the end of the month.
Club Brugge are without their first and second-choice goalkeepers for this match!
Indeed, Simon Mignolet is expected to miss the majority of the season due to a muscle injury, while Nordin Jackers was withdrawn after just 19 minutes against La Louviere at the weekend.
Dani van den Heuvel will start in goal, returning to the squad for the first time since losing his spot to Jackers last year, while Joel Ordonez will feature in the back line, with his current suspension only applicable to domestic competition.
Raphael Onyedika helped Nigeria claim the bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday. He played 90 minutes in that match, which likely means he will not feature in this one.

While Club Brugge are heavily fancied to win this match, we feel the bookmakers have been just a tad harsh on Kairat, given how well they performed in their last four games in this competition.
The hosts lost by just a single goal to Olympiacos, Copenhagen and Inter Milan after holding Pafos to a goalless draw, and given how Club Brugge have performed in their domestic league recently, we fancy the underdogs to keep this one close as well. Our Kairat Almaty vs Club Brugge prediction is Kairat Almaty +2.
Under 3.5
Three of Kairat’s last four UCL games have ended with under 3.5 goals, and they only conceded once in their last two matches in this competition. Club Brugge have failed to score in three of their last four UCL matches.
