India and South Africa will face off in the second of their three-match ODI series at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium on Wednesday. The Men in Blue beat the Proteas on Sunday to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Let’s get into the match prediction.
After a dismal performance in the Test series, India bounced back to secure a 17-run victory after scoring 349/8 in the first ODI in Ranchi on Sunday afternoon.
Virat Kohli was the standout player for the Men in Blue. He scored his 52nd century and was named Player of the Match, while Kuldeep Yadav notched up 4/68 with the ball.
India have now won eight of their last 10 ODIs against all opposition and three of their last four against this opponent.
Meanwhile, a top-order collapse proved costly for South Africa in the opening match of the series, with Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickleton and Quinton de Kock all dismissed for a combined seven runs.
Marco Jansen once again delivered a superb all-round performance, notching up 2/76 before blasting a quick-fire 70 off 39 deliveries to keep his side in the game until the final over.
Matthew Breetzke top-scored for the Proteas with 72 off 80 balls. The visitors have now split their last 10 ODIs, five wins and five defeats.

India head into the second ODI as clear favourites once again, but we’re not fully convinced it will be as easy for them as the odds suggest, given how close the first ODI eventually ended up.
If the Men in Blue are to wrap up the series in Chhattisgarh in midweek, it’s going to need another standout performance from their top order, and we fancy Virat Kohli to deliver once again after a stunning innings in Ranchi. Our India vs South Africa prediction is Virat Kohli over 32.5 runs.
