Unseeded Alexander Shevchenko takes on qualifier Elias Ymer in round one of the Australian Open.  Ymer first played in this outdoor hard court Grand Slam in 2015 but is yet to win a main draw match. Can he finally win one? Read our match prediction below.

Alexander Shevchenko is playing in this tournament for the fourth time but he's also waiting to win his first main draw match and has never won a set. He'll find this a bit easier than last year when he lost in straight sets to Carlos Alcaraz.

Shevchenko has won three of his five matches this year and last week made it to the last eight in Adelaide.

Elias Ymer won the only previous match between these two players but that was on grass at Wimbledon.

The Swede is 175th in the live rankings, 78 places below his opponent. Ymer took nearly seven hours to win his three qualifying matches. He needed to go to three sets in his last two matches and is in the main draw for the first time since 2021.
