There is a huge clash this Sunday in the Scottish Premiership as the top two clash at Celtic Park, the hosts take on Hearts with top spot in the table very much on the line. The Hoops come into this game on the back of excellent recent league form, while the Jam Tarts have had a sticky spell of late, seeing an once nine-point lead evaporate. Here's our prediction for the match.
Martin O'Neill has done a fabulous job as caretaker manager following Brendan Rodgers resignation. Now though, Wilfried Nancy steps into the breach after Celtic finally agreed a deal with Columbus Crew to secure him as their new manager, with the incoming boss promising "exciting football" for Celtic fans.
That could begin here against a Hearts side who have done very well under Derek McInnes this season, but who have found wins hard to come by of late. The visitors have only lost one game this season despite their poorer form of late and they can point to a key win over today's opponents back in October at Tynecastle.
Let's take a closer look at the form of both these teams heading into this crucial top-of-the-table clash.

Coming into this fixture, Hearts and Celtic occupy first and second spot in the Scottish Premiership table at present. They have both claimed 32 points so far this season, but Hearts have played one game more than Celtic with 15 matches played compared to the Hoops 14. Hearts do have a slightly better goal difference (+18 compared to +15 for Celtic).
Their previous fixture this season in the league ended in a 3-1 victory for Hearts.
Since losing to Midtjylland 3-1 in the Europa League, Celtic have won all their next five games. A 4-0 home win over Kilmarnock in the league was followed with a 1-0 win away to St.Mirren. Feyenoord were dispatched 3-1 away in the Europa League in a scintillating display and Celtic have rolled on since beating Hibs 2-1 away from home and then Dundee 1-0 at home in midweek.
Hearts though have failed to win any of their last four league games. That run began with a 1-1 home draw with Dundee United before they suffered their first defeat of the season 1-0 away at Aberdeen. Since then, they have drawn two more games a 0-0 draw away at Motherwell and then a 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock in midweek.

Our prediction for the Celtic vs. Hearts Scottish Premiership match is: Celtic wins.
This match probably comes at the worst possible time for Hearts. Celtic have been in a rich vein of late form and they have dropped only two points at home in the league all season long. Hearts have seen a nine-point lead disappear as they are without a win in their last four league games and now know that this is a game they must get something from. However, Celtic are the team to back for the win here based on the data.
Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals
Both these two teams are the top goalscorers in the Scottish Premiership and Celtic average over two goals a game at home in the league this season. Hearts have scored a dozen goals in their seven away league games this season and have racked up 30 goals in the season so far, the most in the division.
Two of the last three games between the two teams have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals, while four of the last five have seen over 2.5 goals scored.
With the two most prolific attacks playing each other, it is a good bet that both will find the net, even if Celtic are the team to back to land the win.
