The final match on Thursday’s slate of CONMEBOL 2026 World Cup qualifiers sees third-place Brazil playing host to bottom-placed Chile. Both teams have already sealed their fates, with Brazil punching their World Cup ticket while Chile have been eliminated from contention. Check out our match prediction below!
Brazil enter this match off the back of a 1-0 home win over Paraguay back in June. The result boosted them up to third in the standings, although they still trail rivals Argentina by 10 points.
It’s been an abnormally inconsistent qualifying campaign for Brazil, who are normally so dominant at this stage. It’s been A Selecao’s away form that has really let them down with just eight points from eight away trips and a -5 goal differential.
At home, however, Brazil have a solid 5-2-1 record, scoring 15 goals while conceding five.
It will go down as a campaign to forget for Chilean fans who have had to suffer through a difficult few years. After their encouraging performances in the 2010 and 2014 World Cup’s, Chile have now failed to qualify for the last three editions.
They find themselves rooted to the bottom of the standings with only nine points from 16 games. In their last match, La Roja were beaten 2-0 away to Bolivia, extending their winless run to four matches (D1, L3).

Brazil have been gaining some momentum in their last few matches at home, winning five of their last six. While they have work to do when playing on foreign soil, they’ve largely been able to take care of business in the comforts of home.
Chile have been dreadful when playing away from home over the last few years. Only one goal scored in eight away trips in qualifying tells you all you need to know about where they are at. We don’t expect them to score against Ancelotti’s side. Our Brazil vs Chile prediction: Brazil to win to nil.
