Chelsea come charging to the south coast for a crucial clash against Bournemouth on Saturday, with both sides looking to build momentum heading into the packed Premier League festive period. The Cherries are 14th in the league standings, while the Blues are fourth after 14 games. Check out our match prediction below!
Less than a month ago, Bournemouth were soaring in the English top flight, having taken 18 points from their first nine matches, which saw them included in discussions around European qualification. However, a winless November has led to a major fall from grace, as they now sit just three places above the drop zone and in desperate need of a positive result.
Enzo Maresca, on the other hand, was made to pay for his decision to send out an almost entirely changed squad in midweek, as his side were put to the sword by Leeds at Elland Road. Now nine points adrift of Arsenal, a victory here is imperative for the Blues' title ambitions. Let’s get into the key stats!

After suffering a 1-0 defeat at home to Everton in midweek, Bournemouth have now lost four of their last five league games, one more than they lost in their preceding 17 Prem matches combined.
During this winless stretch, the Cherries scored only five goals but shipped 13, which is two more than they conceded in their first nine games this term. Only the bottom four teams in the league have conceded more than their 24 goals this season (home or away).
Additionally, the loss to the Toffees was the first that this week’s hosts had suffered at the Vitality in the top flight this season, and it was only the second time they failed to score here since May.
Bournemouth have only beaten Chelsea in one of their eight Premier League encounters (D2 L6)!
Meanwhile, after the loss to Leeds, Chelsea dropped two places to fourth in the league standings, and they could slip as low as eighth if they lose this weekend’s match.
The Blues’ defeat at Elland Road ended their seven-match unbeaten run in all competitions and was the first time they conceded three goals in a league game since losing to Brighton in September.
The visitors have the second-best away record in the league this season, with 13 points taken from seven games (W4 D1 L2), and they are the joint top-scorers on the road with 15 goals.

The hosts will have to make do without the services of Lewis Cook and Tyler Adams through suspension this week, but Marcos Senesi and David Brooks will be eligible to return, having served their bans.
On the injury front, Matai Akinmboni remains a long-term absentee. Ben Gannon-Doak and Ryan Christie are still several weeks away from returning to training for the Cherries.
Despite a notable drop-off after a storming start to the season, Antoine Semenyo was by far the team’s most attacking player against Everton and recorded three shots at goal, two of which were on target.
Will Cole Palmer make his first league start since August?
Palmer came off the bench in midweek against Leeds, though Maresca did mention before that match that the England international’s minutes would need to be managed closely.
Reece James was given the night off in midweek, but he should return to the starting lineup here, and could slot into midfield, with Moises Caicedo still suspended for the red he was shown at Arsenal.
Pedro Neto came off the bench to score the Blues' only goal in the last match, and he has been their form player in recent times, registering six goal contributions in his last seven league games (4 goals, 2 assists).

Bournemouth have endured a major dip in form over the past month, and they have to throw caution to the wind here in search of victory, or they could end the weekend uncomfortably close to the drop.
Chelsea have only taken one point from their last two games and need a win here to keep pace with the leading pack. Given these sides’ attacking records, we feel there will be goals in the matchup. Our Bournemouth vs Chelsea prediction is BTTS.
Over 2.5
Four of Bournemouth’s last five games have ended with over 2.5 goals, and they are averaging two league goals (scored) per home game this season. Four of Chelsea’s last six matches have ended with three or more goals, while they are the highest-scoring team in the league for away goals.
